Ask Brad Sugars

Hey Brad, We have talked a time or 2 on FB. I work with Supercar Life, the driving experience in Vegas. I am working for them as an IC. My question for you is, I have been thinking of starting an Extreme Experience business. I am thinking of creating extreme weekend packages for groups and I am going to market it 100% on FB. VEGAS EXTREME! My plan is to create these extreme weekends. So, my first, if all works as planned, will be the end of Oct, early Nov. The guests would get here Fri night and check in to the hotel, They start the trip shooting machine guns Friday night. Early Saturday morning a bus would pick the group up (50 or so) and take them to the race track to drive the Supercars, then at noon or so they would head to skydive. Then back to hotel. Early Sun pick up, and off to sip line in Boulder city, then drop off at airport or hotel to pick up car. I am hoping to get the price point around $1000 per person based on dbl occupancy and I plan to market college towns, and all towns that Allegiant Air travels to from Vegas. The objective is to have an amazing 3 days for under $3K per couple (actually $2500), everything included. All extreme type of experiences. What do you think about the way I plan to market this? What do you think about the idea? Do you have any suggestions?

Positive Negative

I’m a big fan of racing, and this sounds like a great experience for your customers.

Facebook is a great medium, but I think you really need to have more than one channel for something like this.

Obviously, you can test and measure a Facebook campaign and track your results, but I wouldn’t put all of my efforts into this one system.

Bigger picture, I think you need to do some detail work on this in terms of a true business plan, and really get clear on your numbers and how many customers you’ll need to get the profits you’ll need to make this a long-term business.

Remember that most people who travel to Las Vegas do so as a couple. Is there something for the female significant others to do while their male counterparts go to the “extreme”? Is that something else you can package (spa, makeover, shopping) or create added value for?

Additionally, you should explore online with a dedicated website, a blog and/or a newsroom, and you should look at getting some kind of brochure put together to you could go out into the airport kiosks or send to the concierge network – as they are great for referrals – especially for those people who visit the city regularly and like to spice up their itinerary on return visits.

Finally, I would go directly to your market and see if this type of package is something they would be interested in. You may even find that people are willing to pay more for this type of package, or are interested in different packages based on their definition of an “extreme” experience.

Again, it’s all about delivering what your market wants, rather than what you think your market wants or needs. And the best way to discover that is to ask them.

Hope that helps … and I look forward to hearing about your progress and results.
